A Mammoth in the Fridge, by Michaƫl Escoffier and Matthieu Maudet
This book is French surrealism for children, and it is marvelous. A family discovers a mammoth in their fridge… and a charming story ensues.
This was another gift from New Zealand and the wonderful Gecko Press. It is translated from the French. It came as a gift for my younger daughter, who loves it. Her older sister read it when it arrived, too, but I wouldn’t buy it for a child older than about five. It remains in heavy rotation for bedtime, partly because I enjoy reading it so much.
